An Everesting Challenge
Climb Against Cancer
Everyone is affected by cancer, either directly or indirectly. We want to do our small part to support those who have been impacted by this awful disease.
Everesting is one of the most difficult cycling challenges. Climbing 8848m on a bike without sleeping. This is something that will test us both physically and mentally, however our desire to do something good will be stronger than our desire to give up. By doing this adventure we want to raise awareness and raise money whilst raising our heart rates by cycling up one of Yorkshire’s most famous hills 51 times.
Not many people ever manage to complete the challenge, however there are significant milestones along the way. Getting to Base Camp (31 times) will be a huge achievement itself. Camp 1 (35 reps), Camp 2 (37 reps), Camp 3(39 reps), Camp 4 (46 reps) all follow before the ultimate Everest achievement.

There is an opportunity for 10 individuals and 5 teams (of up to 4 members) who are crazy and motivated enough to undertake this challenge
The cost of entry is £30 per individual and £100 per team. The entry fee is a demonstration of commitment to preparing for this event. It will also cover water, hots drinks, sports nutrition, fruit, a tee-shirt and provide a head start for our fundraising efforts
Participants are signing up to climb the height of Mt. Everest (8848m / 29,029ft) = 51 ascents of Norwood Edge
The indicative day of the challenge is Sunday 1st October (with Sunday 8th October as weather contingency day)
Event will be organised in association with the Harrogate Tri Club, although open to non-members

This event has 2 purposes – to test ourselves physically and mentally and to raise money for cancer focused charities
The chosen charities for Climb against Cancer 2023 are Macmillan Cancer Support and Teenage Cancer Trust
A specific Go Fund Me page, Climb against Cancer, will be used as our fundraising platform. This will be a collective rather than individual effort
Our fundraising target for 2023 is £5000
